Lighting… Is it worth it?

I can not even count how many times I have heard clients ask the question, is lighting worth the money? My answer is YES YES and more YES!!! Lighting helps to create the mood and can transform any venue into something magical. Personally, I like when the lighting dims with the transition of the party, getting darker and darker as the night goes on. Candlelight can even make people look younger and more attractive and who wouldn’t love that? Lighting designer, Bently Meeker, who lit events for Chelsea Clinton, Robert Dinero, and the premiere party for Sex and the City, shares his top 5 event lighting tips with Celebrity Bride Guide. My sister is going to die when she sees this. Why, you ask?….because she is the Purple Queen. The mirrored walls (oh how I love thee), shiny silver accents, lush purple centerpieces, purple surf board tables, the custom dance floor monogram and the bar display are all giving me a wonderful feeling of sensory overload. I can’t choose what I like the best because this event is so dead on to my style, it is as if it was designed for me!!! Designer Chris Macksey and his partner Barbara Roos knocked this event out of the park, in my opinion! The sleek and versatile design for this birthday could easily be translated to other events. I love it, what do you think?

Real Wedding!

Look what popped in my email today, courtesy of the good folks from ALTMix Photography. This is an event designed by Steve Bales of Bold American Events for an adorable young couple by the names of Lara and Zack. The wedding and reception took place on New Years Eve at Puritan Mill!!! I love the look of this wedding with the juxtaposition of the elegant decor and the industrial exposed brick. Seriously, doesn’t that floral and lace Chuppah look absolutely divine in front of the exposed brick and open window? Clever decor references to the couples’ love of backpacking provided a personal touch that complemented the look, feel, and party atmosphere of the wedding. Congrats Lara and Zack!!

{Real Party}: Turquoise, Green, & White Birthday

A cool color palette of turquoise, green, and white lends itself to a sleek and modern event. I know that “green” in the spring has been done before, but there is something very refreshing about the pictures below from designers Chris Macksey and Barbara Roos. Floating candles, submerged green cymbidium orchids, and turquoise accents really pop off the high gloss white. I really am a fan of this look and I am trying to figure out how I am going to get those mirrored walls in my dining room for an upcoming dinner party. Hmm… this would really look great as a backdrop for a dessert display, don’t you think?

Bold American Events at NACE 2012 & Bridal Extranvaganza

Something BOLD, something new, something borrowed, something BLUE

Two weeks ago, I did a post about Bold American Events’ presence at the Atlanta Bridal Extravaganza on Sunday, January 29^th at 200 Peachtree and NACE 2012 that took place on the following night. The inspiration was “Something Blue” from a vintage perspective. Using elements like beautiful vintage suitcases, soft flowers, and shades of blue, Bold American Events hit two birds with one stone and brought you something BOLD and BLUE!

Nature Inspired Event Decor

Bold American Events had the opportunity to make decor magic last October for the Ian’s Friends Foundation Gala at the Loews Hotel here in Atlanta. Ian’s Friends Foundation is an organization committed to funding the support of pediatric brain tumor research. Using the invitation as inspiration, designers Chris Macksey and Barbara Roos created a night to remember. Today, I am focusing on the use of natural elements such as earthy Manzanita branches, hedge walls, and moss to mimic the logo used on the invitation. This event even featured a metal sculpture for the band backdrop, from a local artist, that mimicked the event logo beautifully. In being honest, out of all of the decor elements highlighted at the event, I am probably the most obessessed with the front lit bars from this event.
